Cowhide seat western saddle bar stool Cowhide is a natural cow leather that has been minimally processed, not bleached or colored. It may have been soaked in salt after the cow was skinned, and in the tannery, it might have been tanned to remove the odors and prevent shedding of hair. Wooden western bar stools would then be upholstered with that cowhide leather, using metal round top tacks, which would provide a look of a western bar stool strongly resembling a horse saddle. Sometimes, a saddle horn would be added to one side of the bar seat to complete such horse saddle bar stool.
Choosing the right Style There are a huge array of bar stools to choose from - wood, plastic, steel and even acrylic to choose from. The sleek look of aluminum or stainless steel creates a wonderfully contemporary look and feel to your kitchen To keep with a retro style look for backless bar stools. More adventurous designs include our new Cuban and horizon ranges. Functionally Think about where the stool will be used and could it be used in more than one location (such as in the kitchen, in the dining room or even outside on hot summer days. You will nearly always find that the gas lift and swivel features of our stools will be an important part of your stool enjoyment. The swivel function makes conversation easier and means you dont have to move the stool to look at your complete environment. The gas lift features enables you to use the stool with people of different heights and weights comfortably. You will need a cushioned seat if you think they might be used for long periods of time - although our curved designs are quite ergonomic.
If your horizontal (floor space) is limited, you may choose armless. Arms generally add 3 to 6 inches to the overall width of a single bar stool and can add up to 18 in width on just 3 bar stools. (See How Many Do I Need?) Backless stools are great when you need occasional extra seating or in situations where you dont want to obstruct a view with tall backs. Example: You may have an open floor plan and do not want to obstruct your view from one room to another. Also consider any outside views. If your game room or kitchen faces a lake or river, for example, you may not want backs extending above your counter that may obstruct your view.
