If youve got a patio bar or outdoor bar, then patio bar stools are the perfect complements to your bar. Theyll turn a simple bar into an inviting space for entertaining and add much needed seating for parties or smaller gatherings. However, its important to choose your stools and other seating carefully to ensure that theyre durable and attractive. Patio Bar Stool Styles Patio bar stools come in two main styles: backless and with backs. Either can be a good option depending on your bar and other needs. If you just want a stool to belly up to a small bar, then a backless style might be perfect. These stools may or may not have swivels, but they usually have footrests. They dont block the view of the bar and are great for short stints of sitting.
For a slightly more unusual look and feel you can purchase contemporary and retro. Going back to the 70s is becoming very fashionable and people are trying to find all things retro. Contemporary and retro bar stools can be made from either wood or steel and have some fantastic seat covers, you can get them in a vast range of colours. You can have red stools, blue bar stools or even pink stools, they can be as loud and as bright as you require. It is your home and your design to do what you want with. There are four main sizes of bar stools, and you will need to consider this when purchasing them, they are based on the height of the seat. You can purchase counter top bar stools which are the shortest of the bar stools and are the height of an average kitchen work top. Next are the bar stool height, these are designed for bars so they are slightly higher. The next bar stool is often referred to as a bistro stool, these are very popular for patio areas and the last stool is known as a hybrid. The hybrid stools are adjustable, you can move them up and down to suit your needs these are often gas lift bar stools. Whichever bar stool you decide to purchase it will look fantastic in your home, they are timeless and classic pieces of furniture.
If your horizontal (floor space) is limited, you may choose armless. Arms generally add 3 to 6 inches to the overall width of a single bar stool and can add up to 18 in width on just 3 bar stools. (See How Many Do I Need?) Backless stools are great when you need occasional extra seating or in situations where you dont want to obstruct a view with tall backs. Example: You may have an open floor plan and do not want to obstruct your view from one room to another. Also consider any outside views. If your game room or kitchen faces a lake or river, for example, you may not want backs extending above your counter that may obstruct your view.
